Sur La Nuit

Setting up an tea and dessert station saved lots of time. A lemon tart and a 'construction' cake were perched near a jar of pastry forks and stacks of dessert plates, cups, saucers, stack of tea bags milk jug. Just the kettle needed boiling when the berries were pulled from the fridge and the gelato was taken from the freezer.

Dinner Party Details

Even thought the rain held off and the sun began to shine, the wind decided not to abate and I didn't want shivering guests, lifting tablecloths and spilling vases - so at the last minute, we moved inside. Our set up was minimal:
The tablecloths were IKEA linen curtains in white and grey; our homemade timber bunting was hung over the BBQ; man flowers in juice jars were wrapped with trailing passion vine from our back fence; our vintage desk was set up as a drink station - (jars & straws for mineral water + apple & grapefruit sparkling and wine glasses in waiting); and of course, a 'junk food' box with lolly bags filled with Mr's favourite retro sweets (dark chocolate bullets, licorice, clinkers, freckles, raspberries and strawberry creams).

Party Photobooth

I was very excited to find a tripod on sale at a nearby camera shop to set up a photo booth for Mr's 40th birthday.  It came together slowly.  A couple of Thonet chairs, a man corner and a garland, warped into a French lounge with 3 sizes of random coloured honeycomb balls hired from Sugarcoated Events and some silver foil balloons from Ruby Rabbit.  The balls are hung on thumbtacks with fishing line and it took a bit of fiddling.  I think what makes it work is the depth; some are set back against the wall and others are in front.

Bubs was pretty happy with the results and we have a selfie of us here for you too.  Oh, and in case you wanted to know, the surf print was Mr's birthday present from White Horse Home in an IKEA Ribba frame. It's such a happy corner now, I don't want to take it down.

The Night Before Christmas

On Christmas Eve, we had a little dinner party, our first in the new house so I guess it was a bit of a house warming too, with a few early Christmas presents given and opened. My sis bought her now infamous white Christmas and egg nog. These are some setting up pics and there will be more to come.

Eat, Drink & Be Merry

This week I had my first dinner party in my little (tiny) apartment. I bought some pink roses, set the table with these placemats and made peach, yoghurt and honey parfait for dessert.

I printed labels for the wine bottles that read 'welcome to my little house' and we finished with fig and ginger cake with a cup of tea.
