Covers Before Contents

I absolutely do judge books by their cover. I buy novels for the image on the front. Even better if it has raised lettering, flocking or a lovely title font. I imagine I'll like what's on the inside as much I do the outside. Magazines are a different story altogether. If I'm a loyal follower, like I am to so many, I buy it no matter what the cover. But sometimes there are covers alone that can suck me in and make me add another monthly mag to my already heaving mag towers. These covers have done just that. Irresistible.

The the third cover with the chair overlooking the water would have caught my attention for sure.

I really loved the "Bush Christmas" cover. My boss' wife Lara Hutton styled the first one (the vase of flowers) she is an amazing stylist.

Hello, I am just becoming interested in decor/living magazines and I was wondering if anyone had some good suggestions for mags to buy in the US. I know I missed the boat on Domino. Is this magazine available? I am more interested in US magazines at this time simply due to cost. Thanks for your thoughts!

Movies, books and magazines get me the same way!! That's why I'm always picking up wedding magazines and watching indie flicks. I'm a sucker for beauty!

I'm with you - I'll buy anything from detergent to magazine to shampoos just based on the outside!

I am the exact same way with books. I have this process of choosing books that begins with judging them by their covers. I then read the back. If the back sounds good I read the first page. If the first page is great then I have no choice but to buy the book.

I agree 1000%. Book covers are a major deal breaker for me. It sucks you in right away.

As for magazines, the fact that you've read an issue or more from them is what makes you buy a new issue. A good cover never hurts of course!
