Beautiful Storage Ideas

Today's post is all about shelving and other beautiful storage ideas.  Many decorators/designers are firm believers that just because you have to store something away, or keep it organized and out of the way, doesn't mean that it can't be visually appealing.  Many even incorporate the storage of their stuff into their home décor, which is a great idea if you live in a studio or a small home. For instance, store your knick-knacks on an antique shelf as a curio case and display them with under-cabinet light fixtures.  Or organize your books (or shoes or craft supplies, etc.) according to color for a pretty rainbow effect.  You'll find these and many more ideas in this round-up of beautiful storage ideas.  Enjoy!

For those women with bountiful shoes in loads of different colors, this is a great storage idea to borrow, c/o J. Crew's creative director, Jenna Lyons.  It's a simple idea, really, just store your shoes according to color on open-shelving in your closet or bedroom.

Arrange your jewelry –earrings, necklaces and rings – in teacups, teacup saucers or bento boxes, either in a lined-drawer or on your vanity.  It's a great way to keep smaller jewels in place and of course it looks pretty.

This idea is great if you don't have any closet space or if you live in a studio.  This really feminine bedroom is accented with a colorful palette of clothes (which also act as a headboard).  In keeping with the white palette, use white boxes to store your scarves, lingerie, etc. and use a couple of pretty white table lamps for a little extra light.

In a similar vein, you can also create a curtained closet in your bedroom.  This is a great idea if you have a larger bedroom, but no closet.  If you're blessed with such a well-lit space, light your curtained closet with track lighting or wall sconces.

In the kitchen, display your herbs, spices, rices and other dry goods in a collection of collectible mason jars.  The result is effortless and pretty and would lovely in a country cottage.

In this serene, all-white bathroom, lush towels are kept handy on this stepped shelf.  You could also use shelving like this to store additional toiletries for guests. As you can see from this collection, keeping your things stored or organized can be beautiful and visually appealing.  Incorporate some of these ideas if you already have open shelving in your home.  If you don't, you can recreate any of these looks with a combination of pretty bookshelves and paper boxes.
