Pack the Boot of A Car Together
In today's Spectrum an article was written by the clever wits of Andrew Upton & Cate Blanchett. This is what they had to say on marriage:
"Before you say 'I do', pack the boot of a car together. How you behave with each other and the quality of the pack will tell you everything you need to know about the future. Never pack the boot of a car together again. Take it in turns. Save any commentary for over a glass of wine at the destination.
SMH Sept 8-9, 2012, Spectrum pg 6.
Last time Mr and I packed the boot of a car together we were trying to stuff long timber boards into my ultra blue hatch back to turn into pews for our wedding. I told him how to better do it and he told me I was wrong. He was right. A few days later we discovered the scratched dashboard and a few days after than a torn seat. So our future is looking scratched and tattered but promising as far as having something to sit on! We are saving to buy a ute.

Love in a Jar
I am not a lover of the shape of a heart. I like stars and crowns. I love wreaths. I like spots and squares and chevrons. I don't like hearts. Never have. From the outset for anything to do with my upcoming nuptials (what a terrible word) the rule has been no hearts. But then I bought these little gems and couldn't resist sandwiching them together with neon thread.
I call them 'love in a jar'. Whenever Mr goes out to get something he asks me "do you want me to bring anything back for you?" Every time I ask "can you bring me back some love in a jar?"
Of course he never has so I made it myself.

fjura

Saturday was such a busy day - I usually like Saturdays to myself...to read, to faff, to sew. Not so this weekend. It went a little bit like this: A walk and a coffee, a carpenter in our house, an auction, Mr bought me flowers at the amazing fjura (pic 2 is a bridal bouquet I'd be overjoyed with), exchanged some trousers in Witchery, 3 house inspections, 2 family visits, a snuggle of a baby, lunch with dad, framing pick up - I had my dots framed, I'll show you soon - drop off Mr for a hair cut, drop myself to a facial, pick up Mr, rearrage the house because the carpenter built a wall to block off our balcony, view & lounge room (long story) - tried to rearrange to create space that isn't there. The peonies made everything bearable, so did dinner with friends and lots of lovely wine, only to wake up with a stinger of a headache and do it all again. A walk, a coffee, finish rearranging the house. A beautiful summery day, a picnic with stunning views, the making of some beautiful new cloud garlands. What did you get up to?Monday, 1 August 2011

Out of Sorts

Some good news. Mr isn't leaving me for a job up North anymore. He's staying here in our house by the beach (can you see it in the splashback reflection) so we can continue to cook dinner together, keep each other warm in bed, not sit next to a stranger on the bus, drink coffee and read the papers in silence in the sun. I've been so out of sorts since he told me it was an option.Friday, 18 February 2011
