My First Mother's Day

I was so excited about Mother's Day. It felt like Christmas used to feel when like when I was little.  I bought myself a mug 'from' Piper. I can't wait for her little handmade Mother's Day stall purchases in year to come. On Sunday, Mr bought me a large coffee and a gorgeous bunch of blooms. I made a mini layer cake with  berries from the bunch.

Sur La Nuit

Setting up an tea and dessert station saved lots of time. A lemon tart and a 'construction' cake were perched near a jar of pastry forks and stacks of dessert plates, cups, saucers, stack of tea bags milk jug. Just the kettle needed boiling when the berries were pulled from the fridge and the gelato was taken from the freezer.

Coffee - A Mother's Best Friend

My little companion and I have been meeting people and drinking lattes in lots of places I have been keen to check out. I highly recommend Paramount and The Stables in Surry Hills and Sub-Station in Alexandria.

Paramount is stunningly designed, very industrial but beautifully thought out and it shares the space with Pop Plant and Tokyo Bike

Cornersmith Cafe

After a visit to IKEA I made my way to Cornersmith in Marrickville.  What a cool place. They do pickling and cheesemaking classes and all their produce comes from locals they know by name. Oranges from one person and honey from another + a gorgeous menu, great coffee, friendly service and clever design. They host dinners too. 314 Illawarra Rd, Marrickville (Sydney).  Go!

Boathouse Baby Shower

I had a few weeks of before bubs was due and while I was fretting about the impending labour (cold shiver) and change to our lives, I managed quite a few lovely lunches and coffees.  I didn't want a baby shower but my best friends took me to lunch and showered my bump to gifts (a lovely surprise) and my mum and sister took me to Balmoral Boathouse for a feast and gift giving, which is where these pics were taken. What baby girl doesn't need a bikini from Copenhagen and beautiful new sheets for her cot from Pottery Barn kids. Thanks mum & aunty BB. Oh yer, I also found time to make some mini carrot cakes and fit in regular sleep ins til 10am.

Colour Yum

A gorgeous lunch with my girlfriends and special gifts for our bubs on the way (and a sneaky glazed donut - how did I not know good these were?)

A Happy Birthday

A few snaps from my birthday spent with Mr at home last Tuesday. A breakfast at a lovely cafe (Left Bower in Sutherland), decked out like a holiday caravan, we drank our coffees at the picnic table out the front; a bunch of flowers from my lovely team at work and baking pecan pie and churning cinnamon ice cream for a dinner at home with my sisters and all the critters. Mr wrapped my present using a hardware store paper bag and my craft punch to make a neon heart (so cute).
