Ali + Evan

I love the way he's grabbing her head in that second image. What an awesome country wedding. I love the kitchen utensil tattoos on her forearms. Fitting since they run a cafe in Portland.

Happy Anniversary : 35 Years

Thirty five years ago today my mum was a tall, thin bronzed girl of 19 marrying the man of her dreams. My dad was a surfie dude wearing flares, platforms and a moustache. Mum walked down the aisle and dad was there at the end, waiting for her. They have been together ever since. Congratulations - I am full of admiration and aspiration - it made for a life of pride and love and warmth for your children to grow up in and now exist amongst just and it will continue to be so for your grandchildren.

Breakfast Cereal : 2 Week Challenge

A health start to the day. My younger sister said she wanted someone to do the Special K challenge - I found Bran Plus in the supermarché, so that's what I'm using. I'm normally not a breakfast person, but every morning for the next two weeks I plan to eat this cereal to see if I 'feel the difference' by the end of it. Hmm, surely a hot cross bun on a Sunday doesn't count...
Morning tea: coffee at ham with my big sister. We take away a smoked salmon sandwich for mamma and a mini lemon tart for pappa.

Home for Le Weekend

This is where I sleep when I stay at mum and dad's house. My sisters live close by and this house, our house, is where we come and go and gather and part as we please. Kids run around and jump in and out of the pool and I sneak my sister out for a coffee and a spot of shopping (leaving nanny with the little ones). I feel like this is where I grew up, this is where I'm from, when in actual fact, we didn't grow up in this suburb near the beach but in a suburb about half an hour away. Home really is where the heart is or is the heart where the home is?

Le Weekend

How to heel a bad week. Family time to restore the soul; sound sleep in a sheer curtained room; morning snuggles with my angelic little nephew; beautiful books with golden covers; a healthy breakfast to start the day; walks along the beach; mum's cooking (roasted nectarine and chicken salad); yoghurt (OK eating the whole tub wasn't necessary); spending time with my expectant sisters; and discovering roses in different corners of mum's home.
Images of purchases from Signatures in Noosa, including: The Goddess Experience; gift cards created from Sydney Historical Land Deeds from 1880; and 'cutlery' paper napkins. Cream & lace scarf from Witchery. Blur of blonde curls and angelic face of my nephew.

Bad Day : Bright Week : Feelers Out

I had a horror day at work yesterday and can't wait until Bright Week starts on Monday. Now when I say bright I don't mean all white with a splash of Carolyn Quartermaine-pink tray bright or white room-w/-yellow-Tolix-chair bright (oh, how I do love that look though), I mean loud-clashing-saturated-visually assaulting-almost offensive bright - eek, I'm missing pastels already - but it's all part of the unravelling and it's not too late to join. On another note, I've been dreaming about blogging + styling + moving to Paris and making my night job (i.e. blogging) my day job, so I'm putting my feelers out and asking that anyone interested in advertising on concrete & honey to e-mail me. Happy weekend. x

Noosa Goes Gidget

I don't think there are many things cooler than a chick that can surf. I found myself in Noosa on the weekend during the Noosa Festival of Surfing and was delighted to see there were as many woman as men surfing - all of whom donned beautiful bronze svelte bodies. There were lithe ladies scooting back and forth on their long boards (very Gidget) and plenty of hot Hawaiians & foreigners lucky enough to follow the waves around the world. On a more glamorous note - the most amazing shop on Hastings street is Signatures...books, candles, blankets, jewellery, art. It's 2 levels of bliss, customers walk from corner to corner flipping pages of books, picking up coconut candles and frangipani soaps to smell and baby blankets to touch. Noosa's restaurants are truly world class as well, head to Urban Nectar for my top picks.

Wow! Thank you for letting me know I appeared on Blogs of Note. I was away in beautiful Noosa this weekend and when I noticed the flurry of comments and congratulations upon my return I was dizzy with surprise and delight. Here is a sprinkling of flowers to thank you for visiting. x

Seaside Scottish Cottage

Can't get enough of Rosie Brown's style? Neither can I. This little holiday cottage in the North West Highlands of Scotland is available for rent. It's located near Applecross (I have no idea where that is but I love the name). These images instill in me this romantic imagining: I am near a log fire, rugged up with a hot cup of tea. Outside, the wind is blowing a gale, the sea is angry and grey and a constant drizzle is falling from the sky. I am sitting at a desk looking dreamily out the window trying to cultivate the next lines of the novel I'm writing. A perfect place for sweet solitude.

At Home w/ Rosie Brown

Rosie Brown is a textile designer and interior stylist who moved from London to Edinburgh where she set up Papa Stour, the beautiful online store championing Scottish designers. I am so in love with that concrete chair, Lisa Stickley cushion and chinese lantern, I could just faint!

Candy Striped Dahlias & Another Thing

I'm thinking I might host a 'Bright Week' the week after next (starting on 30 March). Let's ring in the first few days of April with some drippingly delicious colour. Don your bright tights and crazy, offensive, loud, clashing colours and drop me an e-mail if you wish to participate. I'll pop all the players on a post with a link to your blog so we can check out each others colour saturated posts. Come play!
