Home Grown

I am the worst gardener in the world. Anything I haven't killed yet looks to be slowly dying and because I love having flowering plants around I just keep buying them - cost effective...not.
Two Christmases ago mum bought me plants to start a garden. The Gardenia (bless her scented heart) didn't live to see last Christmas, the yellow rose didn't even make it through a season (may it rest in peace), miraculously the Jasmine has returned from the dead (hallelujah) after almost 2 years, due to no efforts of my own (black thumbs) and my two year old Magnolia, well, she finally bloomed...

Over 1000

I see blogs with 76 comments per post and I wonder how you get that kind of following. I don't quite understand how you judge the popularity of a blog, but my humble little blog is very proud to have collected over 1000 little bees in its hive. Thanks for pollinating this blog with comments and visits, I hope you've managed to scrape together some inspirational honey.
Saturday papers, market roses & chocolate sour cream cake - recipe here. Yum

Well Hello There

I've been so slack lately...thanks for sticking around. I'm sorting my picks and deciding what order to post them in. I am yet to post any holiday snaps either so if there are pics from a certain place you'd like to see first, help me decide and let me know where!

Beheaded Blooms

The morning of before we left for our 24 hour flight to London, I couldn't bear to put these perfectly healthy rununculas in the bin nor could I just leave them to rot til our return, so I had to capture their beauty before I could send them to an early garbage grave, oh the guilt.

Cake & Tape

The weekend before I left we had an early birthday dinner for mum and dad as I was going to be be away for the real thing. So off to the markets I went and bought some gorgeous bread, meat and herbs. I cooked a 12-hour lamb shoulder with lots of beautiful salads and made a cake decorated with this tape bunting using the recipe from the gorgeous book you can see here in the background (which was actually mums birthday present).
