Coffee Darling

Melbourne, we made it...I boarded the plane sans overnight bag (not that being without clothes would have made a difference as I froze anyway). I packed a tutu and wore shorts and thongs and a summer dress to dinner in windy sub 20 degree weather. I shopped for a tracksuit top and leggings. We sat at the wrong gate on the way back and almost missed our flight and when I unpacked back home I realised I'd left my makeup bag on the basin in the hotel in Melbourne. Gosh we ate well though.

Botanical Fanatical

I thought I was clever growing some herbs from seed, but oh no Carolina Herrera Spring 2011 takes botanicals to a whole new level.

Serene Sunday

Hello there lovelies. What a lovely weekend. A beloved friend got engaged (I brought out the tutu for the occasion) and it was coffee martinis from lunch time til night time (and cheese on toast before bed). These pics are from the morning after, our calm rainy Sunday spent reading mags, drinking tea and eating apricot tart (it didn't last long enough to make it into the photo) with some quiet shopping trying on beautiful dresses and jackets in the deserted wet streets. What's brought you calm lately?

A Date w/ Oscar

On the weekend we looked after our darling little bird of a nephew Oscar.

We baked marble cake, drank vanilla Earl Grey tea, snuggled in bed and played DS, picked up the laundry, took photos of the stuff on my desk, tore out pages from my much loved Fifi Lapin 'What should I wear today?' book and framed them, went to Manly and to the new Greenhouse by Joost cafe at the Rocks (don't bother the service was so bad we left...and no-one even noticed), the Vanilla Rose cocktail on a bright sunshiny day at lunchtime helped, had gelato (me - coconut & strawberry; him - vanilla & raspberry) and dined out at the local Thai place. What a little poppet.

More Apples

My favourite food in the whole wide world ever, is apples. When I moved to London I quickly discovered that fruit in London is nothing like it is here. Take for example, mangoes. In Australia, mangoes are bright orange and smell like heaven and sunshine and their juices drip down your chin and between your fingers. In London they're dull and dry. But apples, apples in London are crisp and cold and crunchy and there are so many varieties. It was there that I discovered Braeburns. Still my favourite followed by Pink Lady, Fuji, Royal Gala then Delicious. I grew up on Red Delicious and I loved them then. I'd have one every night after dinner for as long as I can remember. Now I have one everyday at 4pm, I crave one. In our household (no matter who I'm living with) when it comes to chatting about what to add to the shopping list, I always remember with surprise " Do you know what we need?"
"What?"
"More apples".
