On le weekend I planted some seeds and rescued the last of the lavender (I killed the rest of the plant damn it). Mr tells me one should start with herbs before they progress to plants. I think he has a point. Problem is, it will a long time until a lush garden because I have limited luck with herbs too. Better luck this time j'espere.Monday, January 31, 2011

I Like You So Much

I love these prints by Therese Sennerholt so much I have bought the frame that fits before I've bought the print. Pay day is Wednesday and I will be purchasing this (as long as the postage from Sweden to Australia isn't exorbitant) and my $344 red light camera fine I received on Christmas night. I was oh so sure it was amber...Sunday, January 16, 2011

A Garden for A Wedding

a chandelier in tree / a small garden wedding at home / one long table

maybe some brights / definitely tables full of flowers / some lanterns?

chandeliers again / what a gorgeous garden room
something more frilly like this garden party Garden furniture is a great way to make a garden look more fantastic, and to get good use out of it, making you want to stay in there for longer. You should check out some of the garden furniture that they have at http://www.very.co.uk.
Images from: 1. chandelier via Snippet & Ink; 2. via Daisy Pink Cupcake; 3. Garden sign via Mimi Charmante; 4&13. Rose Tea Room; 5&7.Skona Hem; 6. no record; 8. Flickr; 9-12&14; glamorous garden shed via Blossom&Bloom; 15-17. garden party via Lola Boutique.
p.s. I have kept these images saved for so long & my as my filing is slightly random, I have very vague sources if you have the source please let me know and I'll happily update.
A Gift To You - Albeit Fiddly & Convoluted
- find an image and paste in PowerPoint, crop or resize to around 2cm x 7cm.
- to add text, draw a text box over the top of the picture and add text. Make sure the text box lines up/is the same size as the picture. fyi - I made my text boxes half height and filled them white and made them 60% transparent.
- now select the new button (including picture & text box) and cut it, then paste special as 'Picture'.
- right click each button and 'Save as Picture' as a PNG file.
- go into your blog and upload all the buttons into a post as normal. Once they are in the order you like, click each picture and add the matching hyperlink - to get this go to your blog and click the matching tag for your button, in this case "wedding" - copy the url then paste, just as you would a text link
- above 'Preview' there is the 'Compose' and 'Edit Html' tabs, in the Edit html tab is the coding you will need.
- copy the coding and go into the 'Design' part of your blog, add the HTML/Java Script Widget to your sidebar and paste in the copied script. If your buttons are too big resize them by editing the code (mine are 'Width 200px' and 'Height 65px').
Good luck! et Bon Weekend!

More Give, Less Take
Yet another nice thing about blogging is being able to reach people easily. Our floods have made international healines and referred to as an inland tsunami. There is billions of dollars worth of damage and even though our eyes are peeled to the TV and the huge phot spreads in the papers, I still can't imagine what it would be like to really see your street totally covered in water with just the roof tops poking out. At first it was the tragedy of losing posessions, collected over years, bought back from travels, a house you've been paying off you whole life and invested everything only for it to be taken away, no help from insurance companies. Then there is no access to milk and bread, no clothing, no toiletries. The most tragic thing to happen though is the loss of lives, the parents who can't find their children, the stories that then emerge. The impact is far reaching and will remain so for a while yet. If you can afford to help please donate to the Premier's Flood Relief Appeal. You can donate online from anywhere in the world.
While I'm on the topic, a couple of exceptional readers have written to tell me about the brilliant contributions they have been making. The lovely Julien Denoyer wrote to me to tell me about her Etsy shop selling Fine Art Prints like this egg image above and giving a percentage from every sale to charities close to her heart like Doctors without Borders & Lend with Care.
Even more amazingly Lesley, a volunteer with a non-profit called FXB International who are running the What Women’s Empowerment (W.E.) Can Do (What W.E. Can Do) campaign created by FXB and the FXB Action Network to inspire and engage young professionals concerned about the welfare of women and children in the developing world and are looking to establish a network of supporters in the blogosphere and other online communities who share their desire to fight poverty and AIDS and empower women worldwide. By partnering with FXB, we can enable FXB’s programs to continue to provide mothers with the capital, training, and tools necessary to start their own small businesses, allowing them to provide for their families and affording their children with the real possibility to escape poverty once and for all. You can make donations directly.
