New House Idea

Well, we're finally in - quite exhausting this moving business and the house is full of empty boxes and disorganised chaos. We of course need more storage...How fab is this IKEA idea? and they have a blog...who knew? p.s. to save you searching, these are Prant boxes and are held together with bulldog clips. You'll need to paint them yourself.

I'm officially a magazine-aholic. Mr could not believe the collection I've amassed. I had to sneak manageable piles into the bottom EVERY box in order to smuggle them all into the new house with the promise that I will cull...but how? I even did a few trips myself of just bags of mags 'cos I felt sorry for the removalists.

Hoping for Thai Take Away in Bed on Saturday Night

Le Weekend gone - A house tidy, a laundromat drop, hot cross buns for breakfast. Coffee, a blow dry, all day breakfast for lunch. The doona out of storage, an afternoon rest in the rain and a party at night. Sunday -A walk at the beach, poached quince, pear and rhubarb with cinnmaon yoghurt, holding hands, tea and Mr. does some handyman work, tea and snacks, soup and toast, pick up boxes, snuggle, collect laundry, grocery shop, watch the end of Milk, make penne with crispy proscuitto, haloumi and Tuscan cabbage, some pinot noir, tea, chocolate, kisses, tv, blog, bed. Start of another week. A short week, a holiday to come. Can't wait to get back into a bikini and have a week of summer in Noosa.

The 'Open'...Entrez

We left our lovely agent to deal with the masses and left to have a coffee. We could have crowd surfed out the front entrance. In the pouring rain were people keen to live in my tiny place (or thinking they were before they saw it). The line up was 5m wide and 5 people deep. The agent described it as a stampede! I told Mr. that everyone in Sydney wants to live in Surry Hills but him! It felt creepy knowing strangers would be traipsing through my house, making themselves comfy on my lounge, opening the wardrobe, criticising and commenting...at least the interest was strong and everything was as we left it when we got back, less a few skewed frames on the walls. What an eye opener.

Au Revouir, Petit Maison

The news is that we're finally moving to a (slightly bigger place). And even scarier is that we are moving out of my beloved Surry Hills, away from the bookshop just below me and the wine bars, florists, farmers markets, restaurants and every night good eating places within a 50m radius. Why? We're moving to the beach. I will soon see waves from my new (tiny) kitchen. I'm really excited about the change and setting up a new house and setting it up with Mr.

He moved in to my girly house and I barely needed to adjust my life, so I suppose it's the first time (at this ripe old age), that I am moving out/in with someone. I can't wait to share pics of our new space. I'm most excited about having a separate study with a beautiful desk and a chair (maybe acquire a typewriter or a sewing machine) and little bed for what we'll call - Ozzie's room.

While the place was nice and tidy for the open for inspection, I took a few snaps on Saturday's dark and stormy day. I'll tell you about the open tomorrow. It was intense.

A Bit Blurry

A totally random post. I took this when I was shopping in Paddington and this girl walked through the door just as I'd set up the photo...hence the blur - I almost k-rapped myself and scuttled away. I still like the colours though. Back with some news tomorrow. I can't tell you yet because I have to tell my mum first.

Emerson Made Flowers

Hello. I'm totally in love with the creations of Emerson (the designer) and her spunky hubby (the photographer). Quite extraordinarily the lovely Emerson looks exactly like my older sister!

I have a box with EmersonMade stamped on it hiding in the wardrobe, awaiting opening at Easter. Nice work Mr. Very nice work.

Didn't Have A Clieu

Sitting in the sun with latte, mandarin cake & my preggers sister at De Clieu in Melbourne...I tried to find the French translation for De Clieu but alas, it's the name of a dashing young captain from the French navy. Gabriel Mathieu de Clieu is credited with being the man to introduce coffee to the New World. While on leave in Paris, he randomly decided to take a coffee plant back to his station in Martinique and so stole seedlings from the Royal Jardin de Plantes and smuggled them aboard his ship. Harts Lane

I have finally added another little town to my travel blog Anywhere But Here...and that town is Daylesford in country Victoria, an arty spa town with fantastic food - I went last year for my birthday and posted about it here & here. The images above are of Harts Lane house & studio in Daylesford via Harts Lane & Daylesford Getaways.
